Well, you read too much into the wrong part of that, but yes, since you mention it, I think Delta "made SKW an offer they couldn't refuse". The part that was arm twisting was the second lowest cost. That part was firm take it or leave it.
To use your car loan analogy, imagine you live in a country with only one dealership who makes one model. They charge what they want, and you take it or you walk. Guess that's your own fault?
Skywest Inc didn't have to sign the deal. They could take their business to UAL, CAL, or Us Air. No one forced them to agree to the terms of the CPA. Skywest Inc willingly agreed to the rate reset. They chose to do so in order to secure flying. Why would they be so reliant on Delta? They're strong enough to make it on their own, right?
