Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with this thread- a college degree is a must, and preferably advanced degrees. But regardless, this job pays very poorly, especially when compared to other professionals in your 50s. More so when you realize you have no retirement and have to compare your paycheck with what your peers in other professions are earning.
My advice to the young fellow: Go to college, find a profession outside flying, and enjoy the money to do fun flying on the side!

Are you serious? You should be making 250K+ working no more than 8 days a month at Delta after 17 years.
