Add in the over staffing before this TA and its truly the kindness of someone on the 4th floor 500 to 700 guys haven't been shown the door while every other major is preparing to or already hiring.
Us Air is hiring to staff for their attrition. The merger with AA will likely put a stop to that for a while. UAL is only hiring because they haven't integrated their pilot groups yet. UAL still has 1400+ pilots on furlough. Some of them have elected to work at the bottom of the CAL list, as opposed to being on the street. However, over 600 UAL furloughs are still out. They'll quickly gobble up those vacancies on the CAL side.
