Mathematically it was possible for the new hires to hit 1500, but the reality is they spend 3 months on reserve with 5 hours a month of flying. Unless you're buddy buddy with scheduling and they give you flying, but there is no rhyme or reason for who flies and who doesn't. It's merely at the company's discretion.
I have flown with many new hires in the past 6 months and asked where their total time was at. Answer: "Oh, like 700, but I'm going to fly 90 hours a month and be ok!"
Response: "Enjoy paying $7,500 for your contract when they fire you because you are no longer qualified to operate 121."
Answer:".....uh-oh"
6 months on reserve and counting for me.... But I do fly around 60 hours a month here in DEN. It seems like a lot of the reserves in DEN are getting around the same amount however I heard anywhere from 25-50 FOs won't make 1500 by August.
