Yeah....flying international comes with a HUGE increase in cost as the foreign governments reach deep into your pockets.

I don't think they allow pizza parties to get special treatment either.
Unless I'm more geographically challenged than I previously thought, you won't transit Russian or Norwegian airspace when heading to South America. And at the risk of going way out on a limb I will submit that if you touch down in Tokyo when you were aiming for Columbia, there are more serious problems that need to be addressed than landing fees.

Again, Southwest is not talking about doing long haul flying, they do not have a long haul aircraft.
