Agree. If we just do a 3 for 1 the entire way, that will ensure that UAL pilots always occupy the same pre merger number of widebody Captain positions post merger. A 5 year fence doesn't do anything.
Obviously with more retirements and 3 times as many wide bodies, UAL pilots career expectations are greater.
CAL had pilots on furlough at merger announcement (obviously not a growing airline), so the growth of their side after the merger is not real. It represents growth both sides should have had. Plus the 737 fleet was parked to make the merger happen.
With vacancy bids every month on the UAL side, it just shows we are growing and would move up faster with retirements. Not to mention A-350 orders which add to the ratio.
We will find out in July or August I guess.
