We're not talking about credit hours, there are tons of ways to earn credit and most of which are legitimate even if there are pilots on furlough. But if someone picks up flying out of open time (not talking about advertised trips from someone else)....open time, where scheduling is looking to fill a trip, should never be picked up when there are furloughees.
No, I hear you man. I'm all about the credit. I have been able to work with some schedulers to drop R days and be pay protected for them, while picking up other R days. It's a good trick to build credit without building block. Screw em.
I wasn't here during the strike but obviously games were played like that back then too. Actually my swaps let me block much less that 72 necessitating the need to hire more pilots.
Recently the MEC has worked with the company to shut down these deals so now there is more efficient use of pilots at lower cost. Seems counterintuitive as a line pilot but if it good for business it ultimately makes my job more secure.
