Here what you need to know for applying/interviewing at a Major or even some regionals...

1) Be professional and courteous from the moment you check in for your flight to the interview to the moment you get back in your car when you return. Some airlines will know where you are traveling from etc..

2) If you are put up in a hotel for interview, be courteous there as well. These hotels know who's there for interviews.. And word does get around.

3)HR/hiring people will be strategicaly located during the interview. They may pose as receptionists, secretaries etc.... always be on your best behavior while in the building.

4)Don't get out of your suit and tie as soon as you leave the building. Stay in the monkey suit unti you get home/hotel.

5) Do clean up your Facebook/Twitter/MySpace accounts.... IF there are 20 of you interviewing that day it does not take very long to research your pages. That is common in any industry these days.
Well I know pilots who do interviews, and also happen to peruse APC on a regular basis. There have been correlations between pilot applicants and their online activities. Usually nothing bad as far as I know but the potential exists if you say things online that you wouldn't say in person. And yes people have posted here on APC that they are interviewing on XX date and then entered a discussion about the interview and the company.

Not black helicopter stuff, but rather aviation is a small world and social media makes it even smaller.

But again, no way for a casual researcher to get IP addresses or other information unless you make it visible in your profile.

Also we have had people request that their APC posts be removed after they came under fire from their employers, typically due to a dispute with said employer about pay or Mx.

None of this is speculation, it's all happened.

Other than that, you give good advice.
