Mesa, Skywest, and PSA have all done it for years and not killed anybody or bent any metal that I know of, so I believe the safety angle is a non-factor
Add in SouthWest... Being dual qaul'd streamlines the operation and you get a pay override regarding equipment flown. Also, it gives you more flexibility with bidding because the 200/700/900 have different types of flying.
