Saab, I came from the trucking industry where I made $35,000 in the first 6 months hauling gasoline. I drove trucks for 10 years and I was home every night. I am now halfway through IOE at a regional as a EMB 145/135 FO and I will be lucky to make $21,000 my first year. I am 37 years old and I have my eyes set on the fractionals and a goal to be there by the time I am 40. Long story short, it will be a long time until I reach the $70,000 per year I would have made driving trucks. And will most likely never be home every night again.
