I had a trip with a guy in the hiring dept. a couple months ago. Length of time in the pool has no bearing at all as to who they will call first/last. If they feel you are a better fit than the guy that has been sitting in the pool for 6 months they will call you first.

Yep, this is exactly what they told me at the interview. One, I should have been more clear, two, my retirement date from the Navy is 1 April though I told them let me know a month prior and I would take terminal leave. So that certainly is a part of it I think.
