That WAS the case, but that restriction has been rescinded in MEX. I believe it's only Peru that still has it in place, and there is a process in place there where the station agents will hold your device for you during the layover until this gets sorted out
It's a theoretical problem in Lima only. I've been through there many times with both the company ipad and my own laptop pc with no problem. I *do* put them in different bags.
If I ever am called on it, the company ipad is the one that gets left behind. It will be mildly interesting to watch how 'the process' gets me my ipad (with all its manuals) back to me for an on-time departure the next day.
