I'm sorry, but I think the tipping thing has gone too far. I like the Japanise way, don't, and they still do a better job When tippng becomes customary, like in food service, the people arn't paid any more, they are paid less! It is expected that the costumer will pick up the slack, good service or not. As been pointed out before, no one tips pilot, and we know in many cases they earn less than a maid.
