Whoever told you that was wrong. New hires will receive their ATP and PIC type during their PC (at the end of training). Those that already have their ATP will only receive an SIC type.
Is there any real difference between the SIC and ATP rides? I was told that during an ATP ride it's a normal checkride with no retrains allowed. I know that during intial training many companies give you 2 retrains during your ride.....not sure if that would be the case in a SIC ride or not.
