Hoss, it can vary quite a bit. Yes there are lines that have you out for the maximum days, and yes you can be extended a few more, and yes if you bid them, you can get long trips that back up to long trips with predictable results. However, just from looking at my most recent bid package, there are also lines with shorter more frequent trips (and by shorter I mean 5-10 day trips). I'm still pretty new and just looking at the LAX base lines, but there is variety in both days worked and amount of days off.

And, I can say with certainty...that nothing is certain with the lines except when you start, and generally when you finish. Generally.
