Currency is a huge problem for guys who get furloughed. Stepping back is hard because those employers know you won't be there long. Many furloughed World pilots are getting turned down or never offered interviews in the first place.

I think you've still got a whole lot of pilots in the late 30's - early 40's that got slammed by furloughs and/or airline BKs that are sitting in the bullpen. The only impediment to return (aside from salary/lifestyle) is currency. Many people I know are in this bracket. Couple of types, Turbine PIC, 10K plus hours, but no recent stick time. Many yearn to get back but realize it's going to be a step back to go forward.
