Starting April 1st. Employee, spouse or companion, and all eligible dependants fly for free on all northwest, mesaba, and pinnacle flights. There is no longer a 50 dollar a year sign up fee. Parents have to pay 24 bucks a leg (roundtrip 48). You get 16 buddy passes (8 roundtrip) and the price is based on the route for those, However our buddy pass system SUCKS!!! If you want some one to travel you have to travel with them... lame huh. I asked around to find out why it is like this and they said a few years back some nwa guys were selling their buddy passes on the internet and then when people would go to fly and would get bumped they would get CRAZY,,, so since then we have had to travel with our buddy pass people.
Airhead has no idea what he's talking about. Maybe at Pinnacle, but not NWA. Here's the scoop at NWA.

No signup fee anymore. You, spouse, and kids fly free ($32.50 in first class). Employee parents fly for a set charge. Companions CAN fly by themselves, BUT, only to a hub to meet you. You must go with them if you are flying anywhere else.

As for "some NWA guys" selling passes, some employees in the Philippines were selling them ( mainly to those going to Hawai) and not telling that they would be standby only. The buyers then got very irate when they were denied boarding because of full loads. Unescorted companions were the last boarded, just ahead of ID 90 holders from other airlines.
