Agree....sometimes. They throw the word "algorithm" around like its all right and can't be overridden. Nothing could be further from the truth.
More specifically, scheduling SHALL use the above criteria. That is until a manager overrides accepted policy and locks down the system because they are unhappy. Situations that might cause this include: an uncovered trip had to be flown by a manager or too much (any?) draft has been recently generated or maybe just a bad hair day.
Yes, fleet CAs have helped many to immediately drop a couple of reserve days. I think the plan is to prevent us from becoming too unhappy with the reserve system. If it's so easy to override the scheduling computer it must be giving us penalty denial messages. So be nice to your fleet CA
What is really telling to me is management should know our issues working with scheduling but they brush it aside and claim they don't understand why we won't even consider PBS. Reasonable man theory, just culture. Those are concepts management floats out to us hoping we do more of what they want us to do. They in no way, shape or form affect their actions.
