So when you were typing this out it never crossed your mind that the Captain was doing what he is required to do and your buddy was being a tool? Where are you guys flying at?

If you think we are beyond having anyone ask for a jumpseat that is not legal to ride the jumpseat you're greatly mistaken. An unauthorized jumpseater is a very big deal.

What the DAL Captain did is what every Captain whether it's a 747, CRJ700 or 1900C shall do with a jumpseater if the guy is asking to ride in the cockpit. How else do you know if they're a crewmember?

Hell, common sense says you approach that cockpit with your ID, pilot certificate, medical and pass in hand and out in front of you so that they don't have to ask for it. It's what I did as an RJ pilot traveling on mainline and as a mainline pilot traveling on an RJ.

If you don't want to do that buy a seat in the back.
