Which would suck for the obvious reasons but even more cause you have crap seniority as a DEC and could take a while for you to get a chance to re upgrade .... As the whole list has to refuse an upgrade before you would get it back .

But even with a staffing bid a DEC can't loose their spot unless a reduction or base closure occurs .
