Like the other poster mentioned, there are several hundred of us now that have worked on both sides. So I feel very confident in my observation about the differences. During new-hiring training at UAL we were told what a scab was, their negative impact on the industry and how we were expected to treat them. When I went through "new-hiring" training on the CAL side we were told that they would not put up with any "mistreatment" of scabs and they didn't even want to hear the word used.
For the most part both pilot groups feel the same way about scabs, but how they are dealt with and how much they have been allowed to taint the culture is very different.
So I do understand that because you only know the CAL side that you think everything is fine and good, but those of us that have now experienced both sides don't see things that way.
