Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the NTSB normally be involved in any investigation involving a US aircraft regardless of location, as well as the manufacturer of the aircraft ?
From what I understand it's an option, and not automatically done, but won't they mostly assist in some form or another with a large US acft incident ?
