You would think the company would want to hire somebody who has a stable employment history instead of bouncing around from job to job.
Maybe when AA starts hiring, they'll have more reasonable requirements.
There is a good explanation for why they want this. They want someone who has proven that they can excel through a 121 ground school in a glass cockpit aircraft. There have been new hires in the recent past that have only flown one AC type in the last 10 years and/or steam gauges and they struggled and fell behind in ground school. They are trying to prevent this by asking the 5 year question, as requested by the training department. It's a currency of training experience question.
BTW congrats to AA for opening the new hire flood gates!
