Well, the difference is that working for a few years in fast food and getting a degree in your off time really does open up some opportunity to work into management. If you're an airline pilot, a degree doesn't mean squat and you don't really have much opportunity to "advance" and stand out. Lots of stories out there about guys that worked their way up and ended up owning one or more stores.
Grew up with a guy and his parents owned 4 McD's. For his 18th birthday they gave him one of the stores. I know money isn't everything, but he'll never have to worry about it anymore. You know, one less thing?
