To anyone considering coming here: My experience (ERJ_Cle) has not been like like this at all. Been here for 1 1/2 years, live in base, mostly bid reserve even though I can hold relief lines.
I have averaged about 4 days a month of not getting used; of course fly more in the summer but also less in the fall/spring. ARC (ready Res) is not that bad, 4 hrs at the airport, rarely fly, then released. I have seldom had it more than 4 times a month.
In Apr, (a busy month)I had 2 days of not getting used, however the trips that I did fly were relatively easy, often leaving late and/or getting off early...still better (to me) than a relief line with 4-days over the weekend.
I agree scheduling is for the most part, incompetent; however in my experience about 70% are polite and just seem to be
trying to do their job. I have only had 2 days off rolled, but were restored the following week with 150% add pay.
Again, this is living in base, and with other income, so I don't mind min guarantee of 75 hrs...If you need all the income you can get, its a different story
Anyone feel free to PM me with any questions
