Because xjt had their recent base announcements of DEN, MCI, IAD. Looked to be restructure for new type to me with a large mx base at MCI (tons of cheap hangars at MCI). But maybe I'm just a pessimist?
I think United is shifting block hours for the XJT 50-seaters out of one of their busiest and most crowded hubs (ORD) to make room for larger RJs operated by OO and others. This would be not unlike the up-gauging in IAH when OO CRJs started operating there post-merger.
