I think he is just referencing how the 900's were used during the last bargaining process. Granted that both MEC's had their shortcomings but this does not mean that they shouldn't negotiate for a good contract for the pilot group. You still work here right? Are you telling me that there aren't things in our current contract that you would like to see changed?
There's plenty for me and it doesn't have to be in the form of a pay raise. I'll keep the current rates, nothing lower. If anything, seeing as how most of us will probably have mainline upgrade times here, they need to increase the pay cap on the FO side by a few more years - say about 10th year. I would like to see more hard language written into the contract and not the company can, shall, could, would, should or whatever else is there. I don't know if this could be done but there has to be something written in the contract for the grievance process as well. It should be resolved in two weeks and nothing longer than that time period. There are others but you get the picture.
Management needs to look at all other areas of the operation to be cost competitive than its front line employees.
Sure there are a few things I'd like to see get changed like calling after you complete your reserve assignment but overall I'm 95% good with our current contract. Let's patch up a few things, get some growth, and get the upgrades and attrition going. Bumping FO longevity pay up to 10 years? Come on, this is a regional.
This would probably be a concession to the majority of ExpressJet pilots. But I know management would jump on your idea.
