There's an Aero Crew fair in ATL in about 3 months. I'm about an hour away and should have about 1000TT, with all other ATP requirements met. I'm flying about 90-100hrs a month so who knows what could happen. I do need to get that written taken care of.
How much will it cost you to attend the job fair? If there's an entry fee, driving costs and time off work, I wouldn't say it would be worth it. It's great that you're very motivated, but if you're still 5-6 months or more away from the minimums you'd be better off saving your money and not going. Trust me, when you've got the hours they'll consider your application, and if you really feel like you need face time with the recruiting team there will more than likely be yet another job fair in a few months. But seriously, you don't need to pay to get into a job fair to get hired here!! When hiring is at maximum warp, SkyWest holds their own open houses (for free) around the country, and you don't have to go to one of those to get hired, either.
Also, they may do the *HR* portion of the interview at the job fair/open house, but they will still have you come to SLC to complete the sim portion and any other testing. But 6 months+ is a long way away from being hireable and a lot can happen in that time, so you may attend and be disappointed if they just say "nice to meet you, apply when you meet the minimums, thanks." If the E175 really comes in with no reduction in fleet, we need 400 new pilots over the next year, and that doesn't even factor in any attrition, which will continue. It may not sound like much, but it is more than a 10% increase in pilots here, and even if and when 200's do start to come off contract without new homes or at-risk flying, we will still need a lot of new people. So relax and focus on your ATP written :-)
