Many there are great, but there are some absolute crazies. It behooves the brand greatly to screen them and weed out the ones that shouldn't have been flying DL pax in the first place.
I hope your hiring board feels that way too. Let's face it, most anyone qualified for the interview is going to know how to fly passengers from point A to point B. I've always had the impression that Delta is looking for people that have a level of well-roundedness that goes beyond the mechanics of flying an airplane. Thus the personality component, the preference for advanced degrees and people active in their communities, and so on.
