Or they could really put them on the hot seat. Like question their motivation for wanting to work at Delta. Especially or the senior side, I think it would be legitimate to ask why didn't you apply to Delta in 1998? 2006/7? 2010? The point with these tough questions is it gets you defensive. When put in a corner, some pilots react bad. 45 minutes of the right kind of questions, you should be able to weed the problem pilots.
And a no college degree should be a no starter. Either require it for everyone, or require it for no one.
