No one takes a job when they know they wont be happy. It's the circumstances that follow later that makes people miserable. For example, Delta signing a pilot contract that requires parking RJs a lot sooner than later. Now certain airlines stand to lose a lot of planes, an therefore pilot jobs. As if that wasn't bad enough, Delta threatens with a vote or concessions or shutdown. Again, not a great choice. So of course people get unhappy. But thats because these circumstances followed after they started (and most like started happy). A very lucky few get a flowthrough and end up at mainline guaranteed, making their regional servitude worth it. Today, for a lot of regional pilots, that just isn't happening.
