If Regional pilots had not already agreed to have their longevity and seniority reset though multiple means at a mainline carrier this argument could hold true, but when you have agreed to a reset though a interview process or a flow, the cases would be made totally differently.

You've completely missed the point of my argument. Obviously what you said is true, but there is a possibility that it may not go that way. So, that slim chance completely negates any possible future take back of flying to rebuild this profession. So every plane you give away is gone forever as long as another pilot is flying it.

It was attempted once with Comair/ASA and look what happened. Instead of getting back the regionals, they doubled in size. If you look over the last decade, 10 years ago if a pilot decided to stay at his regional, he has made more career earnings than the pilot who did everything right, and got hired at the legacy. Only in the last two years has things started to swing in the other direction. There is no reason to believe history won't repeat itself.
