Psuedo-EFB. Everything except the Jepp charts is on the laptop and soon to be the iPads. I think they're still looking at mounting solutions for the iPad, and then we can probably ditch the paper charts except for a backup ship set. Talked to an AA jumpseater the other day, and apparently they're having issues with the mounting brackets on their iPads. Personally, I say let AA/Alaska get the bugs worked out, we can still use our paper ship sets until then, and once they get a solution we can adopt it as well. Saves us the headache.


Here's my issue with the iPads, though. We're supposed to use Optima to check the WX and everything, but we need an internet connection to do it. Not every station we fly to has free wi-fi, and running down to the crew lounge in places like FLL is going to cause a flight delay. Makes sense for them to spring for 4G at least on the CA side of things. I'm a little skeptical on that happening, though.
