Yes it was. 9E was so understaffed, Menke cancelled the BOS flying for US Airways Express to better staff the rest of the operation with those pilots. Delta shouldn't pay for incompetence and reshuffling their competition. They agrees to lay training costs, but for pilots going TO the Delta Connection banner. Not to their competitor. Sorry, but it was 9Es managament and the SLI award with it's conditions that screwed 9E into BK.
I think (I honestly do) that you're smart enough to know it's not that cut and dry. You're not completely wrong but I don't think any of us know what back-door dealings that go on between airline CEOs. You'd be pretty ignorant to think you know exactly what caused the bankruptcy. All we had to go on off of was speculation, highly politicized CEO email updates and some union messages. As much as us pilots like to think we know it all....we don't. Not even you Shy.
