I think you're missing the point of this thread. They
used to be great. They aren't so much any more. The massive media blitz to gain new members ("I got my membership from my 8th cousin's niece, who served in Iraq") and the dilution of the quality of the membership, has made USAA more expensive in many cases from even the traditional insurance giants.
If you want to throw an extra $1,200/year at Usaa just because you've always used them, then feel free.
Of course there are still cases where usaa might be the best. Point is, shop around. You may be surprised.
