The newspaper cited sources close to Aeroflot's board of directors as saying the company was not happy with the development of its routes in the United States, where its partner Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N) offers high fares.
Aeroflot declined to comment on the report.
Dropping out of the alliance could cost Aeroflot $20 million and the airline may consider joining Star Alliance, the biggest airline marketing group, with 27 members.
As a member of SkyTeam, which brings together 19 global airlines, Aeroflot cannot undercut prices offered by other members and could be more competitive in the Star Alliance, group, Kommersant said.
The agreement to join SkyTeam in 2004 was signed in the Kremlin, a political stamp of approval largely due to close ties with Air France (AIRF.PA), the leading member.

So they are upset that once their passengers get to the US our pricing is to high? We require higher ticket prices? Not real sure what they expect would change if they shackle (no pun intended) up with star. I imagine we connect far more passengers to Aeroflot heading to Moscow then they bring Russians to Delta anyway. Be gone Aeroflot hopefully you can continue to fill those Yak's on inter Russian routes.

Never liked those communists anyway!

This is funny. Go look at the AF and KLM websites and price tickets on their site for seats on DAL metal. They are undercutting our prices on our metal. A few hundred bucks for each seat is what I saw when I was looking two weeks ago. Biggest offenders were AMS-ATL and CDG-ATL. It appears that KLM and AF are trying to undercut our prices on our metal to get Europeans to fly Skyteam, but DAL is not doing so when you try to book the same flights through the DAL website.
