For this specific round of hiring, In-Flight plans to interview and hire from its existing pool of competitive applicants who applied or were referred for flight attendant positions during the application window that occurred earlier this year. So, these new positions will not be posted on eBid, and In-Flight will not be requesting any referrals at this time. Interviews for the 225 new flight attendants are scheduled to begin in August and Initial Training will start in September. All new-hires will begin flying before the Thanksgiving holiday and the new positions will be based primarily in Atlanta -- to support the introduction of 717 flying – as well as in New York. I realize that, of course, flight attendant hiring raises the question of when we plan to start hiring pilots. I can tell you that our Crew Resources team is currently analyzing our staffing needs for the next 18 months and will be making a recommendation regarding hiring in the coming weeks.
A couple of ways to think about this.
A) Because of the new 717s they need more FAs with hiring starting in 5 or so weeks. We don't need more pilots to support the new 717s right now.
B) They don't need more FAs because of the 739.
C) They don't seem to need more FAs because we have anything else on order.
D) They don't know yet if we're understaffed on pilots because it's not apparent and they need to analyze it. As in, can we still shuffle people around like out of the 767?
E) Will they really put new hires in ATL? Youth in ATL? No... can't be. BTW, how come FAs don't have a green on green policy. I've had some intriguing trips lately with 3 all new FAs.
F) I did notice a lot of the A321 parking spot markings are blacked out now.
