Again...it depends on the company. Policies vary greatly.

Some places you'll be hired right in as PIC, others you'll be a "co captain" but have no real captain responsibilities, others you'll be an FO for a set period of time, others will depend on the needs of the operation, and for others you'll upgrade to PIC when somebody with more longevity leaves/retires/dies.

Having gone from RJ FO to corporate SIC to corporate PIC to corporate CP, the only thing bizav flying has in common with airline flying is driving an airplane Point A to B - literally everything else is different.
