My first post and its a rather difficult one. Here's the thing: My company recently acquired 3 737-500 from United. We got nice pictures on the equipment installed but no actual description so far on the differences.

I have one question regarding the predictive Windshear System: The radar panel shows a switch for PWS OFF/AUTO. From other systems in know that the radar is running if you have any other mode than STBY selected on your transponder. We have quite a few airports which require mode S selected due to ground radar use. If i select mode S on the transponder with this PWS switch in AUTO, does the radar operate? What would be the correct selection then in regard to the transponder?

Red sticker "Maintain at least 45%N1 when operating in or near mod. to hvy rain, hail or sleet": Was this an internal UAL procedure even with engine modification or is there something special to the equipped engines?
