Yes, actually read it, not relied on a slideshow, and made my decision. It wasn't perfect, but it was certainly an improvement.
I filled out a card for Carl's group several years ago because their talking points sounded good. As I've dug a little deeper, I've come to realize that ALPA is not the root of all evil (nor is it perfect.)
Lied is a strong word. They sold it. Selling is an art. ALPA is a master artist in this regard. Tell people what they want to hear. I had guys my seniority who were acting like gitty little school girls thinking they would be captains because we were getting the 717. They came away with that conclusion! Misled? I think so. These same guys have been hammered because of the RJ and somehow thought we could get more, larger RJs and it was a win. My argument "why outsource vastly superior equipment? Let them keep the money losing equipment. We finally had the whole RJ industry over a barrel = major leverage!"
ALPA and MGT both want to diversify their pot of honey imo. They don't want too much of the network in our hands. It was a win for both. Ironic that the very group that could have shot this down and has been hurt the most by the RJ, supported it. I'd call that a good sales job!
I don't think ALPA is evil, they just look out for ALPA's interest. The other group would be only our interest represented at the table.
