And I don't think Emirates will EVER have a base anywhere but in the UAE. Those pesky unions would impose actual contractual obligations, thereby reducing their efficiencies and eating into their profits.
The 737 was a CAL plane though and ORD is a UAL base, I could see that. I mean it may absolutely be a train wreck over there but the MEL lists on our 88s grow long when they fly in and out of DTW for a few days. And this is how many years after our merger?
And the 9s didn't do well in ATL either from what I can remember. Airliners like to be near parts and when they get separated for too long reliability comes down. I think UAL had a not great reliability on their 744s so they moved maintenance to one location in SFO to improve it. Or so I read.
