Been here 13+ years...........and I struggle to go to work. I wish I could have gotten out a long time ago but circumstances weren't with me at that time. The QOL I have is hit, but mostly miss. I refuse to move to a domicile bc frankly they open and close to freq, and I mega-hate the midwest. I feel bad for my coworkers being forced to deal with another base closure.....And GSO is being rumored to be next, but I can't confirm that.

As the previous poster mentioned, you could end up with four day that is not commutable on the front end or the back end, followed with a day trip with a late show and a late finish. For me as a commuter that is 3 hotels at $45 a night and multiply that by three or four times a month, cha-ching. That happens to me a many times a year. My worst experience was while based in CMH a looong time ago I got stuck there for almost an entire month and a half and that cost me $700 in hotels. "Why?" You might ask did that happen? Because on the Delta travel benefits we are only above buddy passes, and there is always a mainline guy signed up for the js. And if I didn't finish by say 3 pm, I couldn't catch the last flight to ATL.....I had a 2 leg commute too, thanks to MCO closing.

If I came here today as new hire.....I would go nuts, and i would quit. Mgmt has no regard for you at all, you WILL fly tired(body clock screwed up?....YOU bet your life it will be), you WILL be pushed to the limits of the regs. I met a pilot who was on reserve last month who had 60+ hours of dead head time....and that is paid out at 3/4 of what it's blocked at, btw he still won't break 75 hrs. No cancellation pay, I have had 19 hr four days end up being only worth 12 hrs. I know guys that will see a major wx system rolling through say in the NE and it has the potential to cause huge problems, they will "say screw it" and call off sick to save themselves the aggravation of going to work, to work for free. A great example that I heard of was a few weeks ago when some nasty wx went thru ORD...They had an entire crew DH via limo from ORD to SBN (3+Hrs in a car) only to turn around and go back to ORD (3 more hrs) bc the A/C never made it in...so wasteful.

I would go anyplace else other than here if I was looking for a job. But if you're desperate.........go someplace else and save yourself the pain.
