So, couldn't you just fly w/ auto-throttles off and keep the power in longer when you're light (instead of letting "Pierre" go to idle at the same altitude no matter what weight you're landing at)?
Outside of an autoland scenario, the thrust stays in trying to maintain bugged speed until you pull the thrust levers.
