I know its legal to start, legal to finish. But I know for a fact that I will be over 30

But it more comes in like with this part of the contract:

When making awards or assignments, revising conflicts, or taking other actions that affect a pilot’s schedule, the Company will use the following limits:
a. When a pilot’s schedule could be affected by FAR 121.471(a)(3) (30 in 7), Crew Scheduling may elect to drop, or not to award or assign, flying if such

award or assignment schedules a pilot for more than 28.5 hours, block-to-block, in seven (7) consecutive days (31.5 in 7 for FAR 121.470).
Now I know it says "MAY ELECT" to drop something to bring me back down under 28.5, but they won't because we are short staffed and they are concerned a reserve guy can't cover that last round-trip. That was more at what I was getting with originally.
