There will be a pause of undetermined length after SLI is complete (late Aug-early Sept) when UAL must offer an official recall to all remaining sUAL furloughees before off-the-street hiring can continue.

IMHO, this will be a very short break in "off the street" hiring because all furloughed sUAL pilots already have been offered a job at sCAL in the interim. Thus, the required official recall is more of a technicality as those furloughed sUAL pilots that want/need a job already have one. Of course, an extreme SLI award (in either direction) will have a direct impact of the number of sUAL furloughees that will ever return.

Of note, 1437 sUAL pilots were originally furloughed. 342 have been offered an official recall and 601 are currently flying at sCAL (there is some overlap in the two numbers.) 104 pilots have accepted the official recall but 52 immediately went on MIL leave. Pilots that bypass recall have ten years from their date of furlough to return and retain their seniority position the entire time--all of them will always be senior to any off the street new hires.
I've had several of the furloughed guys (mostly the vol. furloughly) that many will never come back. They have found other jobs and are just keeping recall in there back pocket as a fallback if something happens in current job. When I say many I would guess it's maybe 20-30% from an uneducated guess.
