This career is about luck and timing. Bad time for mil dudes trying to go to DAL IMO (also civ dudes that don't fly for a compass or pinnacle).
I think you will be pleasantly surprised after a couple of years of hiring. There are plenty of loopholes Delta can use to hire the people they want. The 35% ALPA DCI rule in particular is written with such loose language that it is essentially meaningless.
