When it comes to hotels and sitting at the airport all day, there has been twice that I called crew services (scheduling) and asked for a rental car when "stuck" for a couple days some place and they gave it to us with no questions asked. Once I brought a rescue flt an stayed with the broken airplane and our mechanic, the mechanic said it would be about 3 hrs to fix, called crew services, they gave us a rental car to get something to eat, then we left later that afternoon.
As far as deadheads, I have always called crew services and worked out a deadhead that works. For example, I want to go home earlier they work to get me a earlier flt. Or if I want to sleep in, they work with me to get a later flt.
I may not be doing rescue flts and mx flts as often as some, but I have never had any problems.
