I hope you are right and I don't think anyone plans on taking negotiations, but when you weigh a contract vote on fear (lifers not having a job) and a carrot to the non lifers (pref interview somewhere, etc) you achieve the 1 vote more than 50% needed to pass what you want.
As long as there are improvements, then what are your concerns? XJT will never be Delta Airlines, to assume a contract (not saying you are, just an example) on par with that is naive, or misinformed. ASA has had improvements in all of our Contracts, '98, '02, '07... '07 did come with its share of the pain, ASA certainly didn't accept concessions for growth.... Losing 900's, numerous base closures and a downright mud fight with mgmt.
