Does the country you get the EASA license through have an impact on where you can work/live and who will hire you?

I have French citizenship and would like to live there; does that mean I should go through France for the process? Or would the UK licensing be just as good? I ask this because it seems the UK is the most common and well understood.

Also, I hold an FAA ATP but don't think the SA227 metroliner will pass for dual crew aircraft. Does that mean I need to sit through some of the groundschool?
