I wonder how many forum participants can honestly say they have flown over long ocean routes using a sextant for navigation. We are dwindling in numbers. Makes me wonder what will happen when the GPS system goes down.
Our Navigators were happy to show us how they plotted a 3-star fix or a sun line and how to use the sextant. That was so long ago that now I probably couldn't even follow the arc to Arcturus, let alone speed on to Spica.
